Hello, Humans!
This week has flown by faster than I was capable of managing! Do you ever feel like that?
Right now, I’m preparing for the crowdfunding of my next haiku comics collection, Conifers and the Cosmos. While I have published four full poetry and comics collections and three zines or chapbooks, I’ve never done a Kickstarter before and the learning curve is steep!
I’m also hosting the first of three Weirdo Poetry workshops this month!
To preserve my sanity and keep poetry comics arriving regularly to your inbox, I will be sharing haiku comics from my last collection, Wild Divinity, four at a time, on an irregular basis. I will still be posting new poetry comics and paid subscribers will be getting an exclusive post later this week.
Wild Divinity is organized a bit differently from typical haiku collections. Instead of lumping all the seasons together into different sections, I organized this book so that you are always moving through the year. The first haiku comic is a summer comic, followed by ones from fall, winter, and spring. I don’t always use season words (kigo 季語) in my work. However, each haiku comic has a seasonal vibe (as the kids say), at least to me.
Next week, I will have a page for you to register to be notified about the Kickstarter launch and a registration page for the April 27th workshop: Haiku, Imagination & Observation, where I’ll show you some of the ways I use to write haiku and work with you on several haiku-related exercises. Paid members of the newsletter get complimentary access to the workshop and the replay. For non-paid members the cost is $35.
