Personal Update
I once had an acquaintance, who loved to tell people he was “Living the dream,” with a huge sigh whenever someone asked him how he was doing. If no one asked a follow-up question, he would say that he was working all the time, was broke, and that every day was pretty much the same.
If anyone did ask a follow-up question, he would explain that he was working all the time, was broke, and that every day was pretty much the same.
This blast from the past popped into my mind as I began writing this update because I always start by asking myself how I’m doing.
And today I feel like I’m living the dream. Not in the dreary, ironic way my almost forgotten acquaintance meant it, but in a true, fulfilled way.
I spent my morning writing, hiking, and reading.
I worked with my wife on our garage reorganization project this afternoon. I also played catch with my son, laughed with my oldest daughter about stuff on social media, helped my second oldest daughter get ready to go back to hybrid learning, and watched TV with my youngest daughter.
Tonight, I drew and made comics.
That all makes for a tremendous day.
Tomorrow everything might go to hell. But today I’m living the dream, and that’s enough for me.

3 am Thought Department
You know those random thoughts you get at 3 am that keep you awake for a while? The really strange ideas that exist in the thin, translucent space between dreaming and full consciousness? My broken brain has those all the time, all day long.
I’ve never had a good way to deal with these thoughts—until now.
I have started a weekly comic strip called “3 am Thought Department”.
Here’s the first comic strip. I hope you like it.
Make sure and check your inbox this Thursday for the debut episode of the Cosmic Wayfarer!
Be the weird you want to see in the world!
Thanks,
Jason
