I’m not sure if it’s my anxiety disorder, my natural cautious inclination, or a combination of both—but I have always been skeptical of opportunities. Open doors suggest possibilities to normal people. They seem menacing to me. We’ve all seen horror movies where we begged the character to not open the door. The problem is that unless I want to stay in the same room for the rest of my life, sooner or later I have to take my chances and walk through some open doorways.

Best American Science Fiction and Fantasy 2020
I’m a sucker for short stories. I just finished this anthology this evening. It was incredible. I loved every story. Many of the stories continue to haunt me. Check it out!
