Hello Children of the Stars!
Today was kind of a disaster, and I was feeling pretty discouraged. I usually have a few days of these posts queued up, but these past couple of weeks have been hectic. I was tempted to skip today’s post, but I have too much pride to let something as small as a mental health crisis derail my streak.
As I was thinking about what to send, I found this poem I wrote back in 2020. I had totally forgotten about it.
I didn’t make it into a comic (although I will later.) I wanted to share it with you because it managed to lighten my mood a little.
A Wild Force
[1]
Soul’s misery propagated
Like a green, fuzzy mold
On long-neglected leftovers
Spread could not be controlled
Just when contagion seemed certain
Strange treatment was unrolled
Flee outside and commune with stars
Learn you’re part of their fold[2]
Forged in supernova furnace
Angst and despair lose hold
Wonder supplants all of your fears
Now is your time—be bold!
You were sired by the night sky
Substance more rare than gold
Born to both action and passion
A wild force to behold
Thanks for reading! Be the weird you want to see in the world!
Cheers,
Jason
Absolutely gorgeous, both thematically and stylistically.
