Do you dance?
What do you do when your song comes on?
I loved to dance when I was young. Back when I was an older teen and young adult, I loved my body and was comfortable in my skin. I mostly danced goth-style. One time, a group of our friends found ourselves at an old-person dance (Looking back, most of the people were probably in their 30s and 40s, with a few in their 50s and 60s.)
We were at the wrong place. There was no Google to help us find the dance we thought we were going to.
The DJ started playing swing music from the 40s, and this girl Becki (not to be confused with my wife Becky) and I decided to pretend like we knew what we were doing. By the middle of the song, we had the dance floor to ourselves, and all these old people had circled around us, clapping and cheering for us. When the song ended, we took a bow and headed for the exit. We were stopped by a few couples asking if we gave dance lessons.
Our friends were both mortified and impressed with our audacity.
These days I mostly dance in the kitchen to embarrass my children while I cook or wash dishes.
How about you? Do you dance?
