Hi Poetry Friends!
Having someone stay up with you makes the bouts of insomnia a little less insufferable.
midnight companions
almost full moon and I pace
instead of sleeping
I rarely sleep through the night. It’s been that way since I was a child. Dark hour upon dark hour spent with only the fiendish shadows on my bedroom walls for company.
Now as an adult, I no longer worry about the intentions of the shadows on my bedroom walls. Instead, I consider the motives of the shadows on the walls of my subconscious. On the best nights, I’m not alone. I have a heavenly companion checking on me through the windows, keeping pace with me as I move about a dark house, searching for the forever elusive peace of mind.
Be the weird you want to see in the world!
Cheers,
Jason
As a fellow insomniac, I totally relate!
“A heavenly companion” is pure gold.
