Hi Apex Predators!
Walking in the rain is one of my life’s great pleasures.
When I moved to Oregon more than 20 years ago, one of the first things I noticed was that almost nobody used an umbrella.
One of the next things I noticed was that my “waterproof” jacket left me soaking after a long walk across the Portland State campus, even when I had an umbrella.
I’ve purchased a lot of waterproof and “waterproof” jackets since I moved here. Some of them were cheap, and some were expensive—most were somewhere in the middle. Price does not seem to be correlated to how dry a jacket will keep me. I currently have a nice North Face jacket that not only keeps me dry as I hike in torrential downpours, it also keeps me warm in the snow.
The only way I know how to see if a jacket is really waterproof is to wear it out in the rain.
This is the same method I use for testing my poetry, art, and business ideas. If you’re willing to get a little wet if something doesn't; work, you will treat yourself to some incredible adventures.
Be the weird you want to see in the world!
Cheers,
Jason
P.S. I’ve already had a few people request their custom haiku as part of my digital busking project. You can read more about it here, and you can still request your own haiku if you’re interested!
I love mine! Write on. Also, still tests jackets to find the right one for Oregon weather!
