Keeping It Simple
A sketchy haiku
March creative challenge entry 10 of 31
I’m posting something new every day of March. Today I have a simple index card haiku sketch. The poem reads:
lost in midnight thoughts
Orion’s belt guides me back
home to this moment
The first thing learned to identify in the night sky, other than the moon, was the belt portion of the constellation Orion. Orion’s belt not only makes Orion easy to find, but it also points the way to Sirius, usually the brightest star in the night sky.
I’ve always considered Orion’s belt as a kind of good omen. It shows up from time to time in my haiku as a reminder to stay present. Here it is in my first full haiku comics collection, Wild Divinity:
I hope you find something to guide you back to the present moment. This is where your life is happening!
Be the weird you want to see in the world!
Cheers,

I, too, am a fan of Orion. When I see him, I say, “Hello, old friend.”
I also greet certain waterfalls in that manner.
Hi Jason. Orion is like your North Star! The one from your book is majestic, making the reader move up to the sky. Where you place the words in the panels directs our eyes!
