I have the same thing with Lincoln Beach and the Pacific, but for the Atlantic and Inch Beach. We go their every year with my family, camped there a few times. One time, I walked its entire length, only to find a massive green plastic container, which I proceeded to uncover by digging for 5 hours (+got sunburnt), pushed it up an even more massive dune and skid down (with a lot of jumping forward because it wasn't very aero-duneamic) inside it (recorded that part and it's always a great story to share).
Thanks, Liz! I couldn't help myself with animation, 🤣 It's my first try at animating the ocean, I'm building skills for another collection of animated haiku in the hopefully not too distant future
Oh, this is so interesting! My next book is about bodies of water, and weirdly, all sorts of interesting water-related stuff is coming my way today (not including the water-related stuff falling out of the sky right now)
Thanks, Amy! A book about bodies of water sounds incredible! And thank you for the wonderful word, githerments. It really put a name to something and solidified several things for me!
Thanks for the word "githerments" and for the encouragement at the end of every newsletter to "Be the weird you want to see in the world!"
My pleasure! Amy Stewert is the original source for this use of githerments. It's such a delightful word!
I love your untraditional haibun. Great interweaving of poetry with meaningful story. It touched me, and I've never lived near the sea.
Thanks, Johanna! That is a wonderfully kind thing to say!
Really lovely and inspiring! 🌊
Thank you, Joshua! The ocean is a never-ending source of inspiration for me

Loved this haibun (the one from last year too):)
Thanks, Karol! Your adventure with the green container on Inch Beach sounds very cinematic!
I love your graphic haibun! All the parts work beautifully together. You even made animated waves at the end for a little bonus!!

You're welcome, Jason! I look forward to the next collection of animated haiku!

I love this!!!
Wonderful.
Love this - I adore the ocean but unfortunately live in Ohio, so . . .
That's a bit of a drive! But I am jealous of your relative proximity to the Great Lakes; I haven't yet been to these wonderful inland freshwater seas.
