Hello, Rogues!
Are you ready to disregard the rules of polite society?
allergic to rum?
seeking new quartermaster,
will train the right fit
When I first started this haiku self-publishing journey back in 2015-2016, I was writing haiku about pirate job postings like the one above. I had no plan, I was just writing to entertain myself and my kids.
Inspired by a book I picked up at a car wash gift shop, Robot Haiku by Ray Salemi, I published my first haiku collection, Pirate Haiku, in 2016. (You can buy a digital or physical copy of Pirate Haiku here.)
Later, I would start illustrating the haiku and daring to try my hand at serious poems as well as silly ones.
This note from earlier in the week by
got me back in the mood for silly, pirate haiku:And that brings me to today’s prompt:
Haiku Prompt
Write a haiku, or series of haiku, about something in the life of a pirate (or ninja). It can be as silly or serious as you like! Please share in the comments!
Cheers,
Jason

Ok. I wrote this in 5 seconds. And I'm incredibly proud of it. 😊
Women bring bad luck.
And yet we yearn for booty.
Argh. Catch twenty-two.
