Hi!
Here are a few more details about the future of the Weirdo Poetry Newsletter. This week I will start adding the following sections:
Weirdoku—This will be where I post my haiku comics.
My Book of Failure—This will be a mini-zine where I publish some of my unsuccessful experiments with commentary on what I learned, why I think they didn’t work, and how I’m using the failure going forward.
Shiny Things—This will be where I publish the weird ideas that I can’t shake but that are unrelated to anything I’m working on.
I will probably add a few more sections in the future but for now, these three mini-zines will be the focus of the newsletter. I won’t publish in all of them each week, but I will publish in at least one of them each week. Weirdoku will be the one where I publish most frequently.
After the sections are set up, you can opt out by going to the Weirdo Poetry Substack page and unchecking the box for a given section.
The first posts in these sections will begin coming out later this week!
Right now, in addition to the relaunch of this publication, I’m working on a solar punk sci-fi graphic novel about a dwarf travel writer and his adventures in the cosmos. I am also in the early stages of what will be a 10-part zine series about the 90s. I will publish a 100-page zine about each year of the decade filled with essays, comics, and collage art. The first volume will be about 1990. I’ve had this idea for a long time, but now seems like the best time to make it since 90s nostalgia is so hot!
Since my last update, I have received an outpouring of support and kind messages that have meant the world to me. You are the best audience a weirdo like me could ever have!
Thanks for reading. Be the weird you want to see in the world!
Cheers,
Jason
