Ocean waves don't ask how much farther must I go
If you write a haiku about the ocean is it called seaku?
We had the chance to get away to the gorgeous Oregon coast this weekend. My in-laws have a beach house that sits unrented for most of the winter. Whenever we can, we come over here for escape and renewal. Here are a few haiku I’ve written about the coast this season.
rare sea star looming
over her tide pool kingdom
low tide worshipers
ocean waves don't ask
how much farther must i go
relentless movement
a beckoning void
an infinite nothingness
the ocean at night
actions of the tide
mechanical, unaware
of our human lives
our terrestrial sphere
displays terrible power
in her ocean waves
rocky shoreline hosts
tide pools teeming with strange life
behold multiverse!
standing and watching
tsunami sirens blaring
waiting for the end
rising crescendo
fury of a jet engine
waves crash against rocks
frigid ocean spray
breaks over top of the cliff
the rocks hold for now
the world's reset switch
hidden inside an agate
on oregon coast
wedged between the rocks
crab mocks would-be predators
and waits for next meal
Thanks for reading! I hope you find some peace today.
Be the poetry you want to see in the world,
