Procrastination's Dark Muscled Tentacles
I used to feel like procrastination was a monster that lurked inside of me. It felt completely out of my control. My whole life I would be doing great, and then without warning something inside of me would surface and destroy my ability to do the important things.
Tests were easy enough for me that most of the time I could get by in school without doing much homework.
I tried all kinds of tricks to be more productive. I was fairly high-functioning. I did well in college, went to law school, and even with my constant fight with procrastination, managed to graduate in the top third of my class.
I began to see a link between procrastination and doing things I was dreading.

I began to give myself permission to do things when I felt ready to accomplish them. This had the immediate effect of reducing my anxiety and improving my ability to get things done.
But, there was still more to do. I needed to learn how to embrace procrastination and use it as a tool to move my career forward.
