Sometimes I Make Stuff
Figuring out what to make next
Hello, Joy Surfers!
I just finished the last illustrations for Chad Ellis Boykins’s Kaiju Haiku. This project was a big creative challenge for me. It taught me a lot about who I am as an artist, visual storytelling, and has left me wondering where I go from here.
This is an unsettled season for me, and I’m working on seeing that as a call to adventure. Some days I succeed, and some days my anxiety wins. But most days I’m closer to the adventure side than the existential doom side of things.
Today, instead of a new essay or set of poetry comics, I’m sharing some comics, illustrations, and t-shirt designs I’ve made over the years that never went anywhere. I may still do something with these odds and ends, but I feel like they deserve to see the light of day.
But first, I want to share a few of my double-page spreads from Kaiju Haiku, which will be coming to a bookstore near you very soon!
Now for some really goofy stuff:
Here is set of comics I was once flirting with called Zip: Tales of an Interdimensional Guinea Pig
Here are some t-shirt designs I never got around to actually making:
That’s enough nonsense for today!
Thanks for reading!
Be the weird you want to see in the world!
Cheers,

I'd love to do something like that with my own poems, good I keep them all in my Google doc
I quite like this inspired nonsense! The first one is profound social commentary on the difference between the authentic self and the artificially-enhanced self. I'll be your friend, Clark!
