A million years ago our then little family took a short trip to the coast.
We first went to a small Washington coastal town to deal with some business issues. Then we drove down to Cannon Beach, Oregon to stay the night.
My wife and our then only child, just barely a year old, sat and watched a storm roll in from the ocean from the comfort of our ocean-view hotel room.
It remains one of the most spectacular things I’ve ever witnessed. By coastal standards the storm was small. But the speed with which it barreled into the area and sped off left me gobsmacked.
I wrote this haiku almost three years ago (8/28/19), and it’s one of the few times I’m 100% certain what I was thinking when I wrote a poem.
Be the weird you want to see in the world!
Cheers,
Jason
