What does it mean to listen?
It takes more than just being quiet
Hi Haiku People
I’m good at being quiet, but I’m not always good at listening.
when was the last time
you laid outside and listened
to sounds of your world?

I’ve been thinking a lot about what it means to listen to nature. I’m an excellent listener when it comes to my family.
I’m not great at listening to other things. I can keep my body quiet, but my mind is a noisy chaotic place. It’s easy to be quiet and stare at the sky, but it’s hard to keep my thoughts quiet, so I can hear the distinct chirps of the birds or the different ways the wind moves through different trees. But, in the few moments that I do manage to truly listen to nature, I’m always rewarded with a powerful feeling of bliss—and occasionally an insight into my behavior.
When was the last time you laid outside and just listened?
