Hello, Spelunkers!
When it gets dark, don’t forget to turn on the light.
we turn off the lights
halfway through lava tube
drown in darkness
When I was a kid, my family went to The Craters of the Moon in Idaho. This barren volcanic landscape is now part of the national park system as a national monument. All of us walked through a lava tube. When we reached a bend in the tube where you couldn’t see the light from either end, my dad had us all hold hands, and he turned off the flashlight.
It was the most intense darkness I’ve ever experienced.
I think back on that trip often. The simple act of switching off and on the flashlight transformed the entire place as well as my feelings about where I was.
Now, when I find something makes me uncomfortable I look at it in a different light. Sometimes everything changes.
When I find myself going to the darkest places in my mind, I switch on my mental flashlight and realize that I just need to keep moving forward to get out of the cave.
Be the weird you want to see in the world!
Cheers,
Jason
Or stay and see what shows up
Jason, you are a light!
