Hello, Poets & Prancers!
Earlier, I was sure that I wasn’t going to post anything new today—just a few old comics and poems. Then an idea ripped me from my rest and forced me to bring it to life.
Eternity in Three Acts
a twilight respite,
fierce sun sets, and god’s palette
spills across the sky
lonely firmament, the half-moon waits for the stars
to come out and play
heaven’s chorus burstsas billions of dying worlds
sing Earth’s elegy
Poet’s Note
This is something I call a haiku stanza poem1—each stanza is a haiku that could stand alone, but that also works as part of the whole.
Everything started with a haiku I wrote yesterday evening. The second stanza is based on that earlier poem. In a rare occurrence for me, this entire comic and three haiku stanzas came almost fully formed into my mind. I scrambled to get up and take down the dictation before the idea evaporated. It was only after I wrote it down that I realized the second stanza was built on that earlier effort.

Unbelievably creative name, I know. :) I’m obviously not the first person to try this idea, but I haven’t found any kind of consensus as to what to call this configuration of haiku, so for now, I’ll stick with my name for it.
Space cadet heaven! Super good. Oh, and how about, ‘traiku’?
This is gorgeous and captivating.
