I can so relate to the title of your post--in more ways than one!

I was thinking about my desert dwelling friends when I made this! I've been on a little desert kick with my comics lately, maybe my subconscious is sick of the rain.

When I’m stressed or burnt out, I set my writing aside and focus on other interests. I listen to music (always looking for new bands/artists), go outside, exercise, read...and when my mind is right, I’m able to come back to the writing.

Music is such an important part of my life. Sometimes I still can't believe that basically all the music in the world is always just a few swipes away on my phone. Teenage me would never believe it. I once spent a year trying to track down a song I heard in a trailer for a movie on a random VHS tape my sister had borrowed (and then lost) from one of her friends. The song turned out to be a cover of the Rolling Stones song, "I'm Free" by the Soup Dragons. For me, it's one of those cases where the cover is better than the original.

Right?! I’ve been on similar quests, haha. Browsing the web for lyrics, trying to locate the song in the early days of the internet. Having complete access to practically all music at our fingertips is absolute insanity! We’re so lucky in this regard. 🎶

I’ll have to listen to the Soup Dragons song.

Unplugging for a bit or, alternatively, learning something new usually unsticks me.

Learning something new is such a great way to kickstart my creativity as well!

It's a kind of post partum depression when we creatives complete a project.

Having some dark chocolate helps me, hiking outside, getting together with friends for a chat.

I'm now finding that visiting the various ancient peoples sites here in AZ rejuvenates me.

I hadn't thought of it like postpartum depression, but that's a great analogy! Since I've never given birth, I might use the analogy of becoming an empty-nester, but I think it's a similar idea. Something I've spent so long nurturing is now out on the world!

I like the empty-nester idea. Good call, Jason!
