Hello, Folks!
Every Saturday, I share an older haiku comic and a new haiku prompt for your weekend entertainment.
house quaked from thunder
lightning danced between he pines
pounding rain mocked sleep
Sleep is one of my favorite things. That’s at least partly because I’ve suffered from long bouts of insomnia for most of my life.
I also love the strange state my brain is in when I am woken up abruptly. It feels a bit like being in Wonderland.
Today, write a haiku or series of haiku about something that has startled you awake.
I’d love to see your haiku in the comments!
Be the poetry you want to see in the world!
Cheers,
Jason
P. S. Max, my father-in-law, passed away on Thursday night. I haven’t been able to write about that experience yet. I know Max and my feelings about him and his passing will find their way into my work, this stuff always does. I’ve been in broadcast-only mode for the past few days, and I will be slow to read and respond to emails and comments for the next week or so. I appreciate all your sweet messages of comfort and your thoughts, vibes, and prayers. This marks the start of a big change for my family, but whatever comes I will keep creating.
May this be a time of gentleness and reminders of moments of love shared with your family. Go easy, friend.
I’m sorry for your loss, Jason.
