What a wonderful tradition, Jason! As my son enters his last year of middle school and my daughter starts driving 😬, I think about our traditions. What will they hold close, and what will they barely remember. I'm sure there's plenty they could think of that I wouldn't.

The years between middle school and young adulthood have been so wonderful for me. I love seeing my kids choose what kind of life they want to live and how they take whatever we have given them (good and bad) and shape it for themselves.

We live in a forest where there's virtually no light pollution and so we're able to enjoy quite a show!

Light pollution is such a scourge sometimes. We have pretty good light conditions here, except for one neighbor who has a floodlight that faces our house. As long as we position ourselves so that our house blocks the light, we can see a lot of stars. One place I haven't gone to see the meteor shower yet is the beach. Watching the meteors makes me feel like a kid again.

I grew up in a rural area with zero light pollution. Gained a love of stargazing because the stars were so clear and easy to see. Your family tradition feels familiar and fun to me.

Thanks! I wish more people had the chance to see the night sky free of light pollution. It's humbling mow beautiful and immense it is.
