"Sometimes I go back to these hyperfixations, and sometimes I don’t."
Tell me about it. Recently diagnosed ADHD here too, though OCD and other things were diagnosed earlier. I call it my alphabet soup, but I think the cool kids are calling it "neurodivergent." I'd like to think these things I can use for good, like some sort of idea-generating superpower. I can write or read for hours. This of course neglects my housework though.
Thanks for sharing your process! I enjoyed reading it.
There are definitely trade offs! It’s funny to look back and realize that so many of my struggles in school early on were related to the way my brain works and not my motivation. I’m glad you enjoyed this post!
Another vote for “The Secret Club of I love the process geek.” And I love even more that you keep track of your haiku in a spreadsheet. Talk about juxtaposition!
Thanks! Of all the decisions I’ve made along the way with my poetry, deciding to use a spreadsheet has been the most useful, hands down. Maybe in a future post about process I’ll share more about how I use the spreadsheet and where it comes in the workflow
I love getting insight about your work process and how processing your own stuff relates to your poetry. Thanks for the post. Also, great haiku comic!
Thanks! I always worry that people will be bored with process stuff. I’m glad you enjoyed this and thanks for letting me know!
Loving your newsletter and am looking forward to seeing your work!!!
Thanks!

It's nice to read how you've adapted to your ADHD. I can relate to a few things you mentioned.
