I typically stop for a moment to process the emotions that arise when things go awry. I take a few breaths and try to pivot to another solution. It wasn't always this way. Understanding that the brain responds in 12/1000ths of a second and that this is beyond my control and doesn't define how I choose to respond has given me the freedom to observe my initial response, process it, and move on. Most of the time. 😁

I think you're right. The initial response isn't important. It's what you do next that makes all the difference. That's why I like working for myself, I can quit all the and time and then restart a few minutes later, all without dealing with HR.

Yes, I had some apple trees I tended about 15 years; every year just a few bad apples. The last year I had sprayed, pruned, and got a bunch of flowers, seemed to have some apples starting, then a blight hit all the end branches. I cut down my three apple trees. And I love trees! So sad!
