Twisted Haiku is an occasional series where each volume of haiku poetry is centered around a theme not usually covered by traditional haiku poetry. These only have spot black-and-white illustrations and one or two black-and-white haiku comics.

Zines

What is a zine? It’s an indie periodical. In the U.S., zine is pronounced like the last half of the work magazine. In some places, it’s pronounced like it rhymes with sign. However you pronounce it, my zines are underground publications that combine art, comics, poetry, and storytelling. They’re typically about 40 pages long.

You could call them chapbooks, but I call them zines.

This now-discontinued zine series paired abstract art with some of my more surreal haiku. Each volume is small, about the size of an oversized smartphone. They’re perfect for when you need portable poetry or you want something to gawk at that’s not the infinite scroll on your phone.

Surreal Haiku has been discontinued. But, you may enjoy a related series of zines, Abstractus, that pairs abstract art with experimental haiku. Abstractus will be arriving in Summer or Fall of 2024.

Weirdoku is an experimental haiku comic series organized around a theme. Each issue has 36 haiku comics.
