I’m with you on that--the ocean is a restful place of peace. I’ve been lucky to spend a lot of time at beaches in Hawaii, Oregon and Florida. They are all very different types of beaches. But the mesmerizing sounds and sights and rhythms are so restful to me, almost like watching the flames of a fire. I feel similar tranquility when flying.

I love the comparison to watching a fire, yes that's what it feels like to me too.

I'm with you on visiting the ocean! I also like sitting in the lodge of Mt Hood gazing through the windows at the view. I love walking through a forest. At home on a regular basis I walk a lot and read printed books and cook/try new recipes. I also love visiting bookstores and libraries and trying a new restaurant. Yesterday my wife and I spent a gloriously relaxing day at the Portland Japanese Garden! I also spend time away from my phone doing analog stuff. I'm trying to do that today but I just had to read your wonderful newsletter!! I hope today is restorative for you!

Lots of great places there! I’ve lived in Oregon for the last 25 years and 4 additional years as a kid, and I’ve never been to Timberline Lodge at Mount Hood! Thanks for breaking your digital fast for this newsletter. I hope it was worthwhile!

Well, in my experience Timberline Lodge is well worth the trip especially in summer when it's not ski weather. The drive is beautiful itself and then after arriving at the lodge we find a table with a view if possible. There they make homemade bread and butter that's wonderful to eat ... it's like arriving at grandma's house after driving over the river and through the woods...

And yes, your newsletter was and is very worthwhile!! I appreciate it!!

We have a really lovely labyrinth at our church. You have to walk through an equally lovely garden (shaped like a cross, of course!) to get to the labyrinth. I walk the labyrinth to find peace.

Hi Jason,

Thanks for your work. I find peace on my horse, and walking in the fields and woods, nature really, anything that is away from people and lists and technology.

Wishing you beautiful day.

All of that sounds perfectly idyllic!

I'm SO over the cult of capitalism and constant growth mentality. I'm focused on building passive income streams so I can work LESS, not more! Pretty much ready to sell my house and go live in the woods by myself LOL

Yes! I have no desire to work MORE. I guess that's why I draw pictures and write poems. I don't want a private jet, super yacht, or a telecommunications company. I just want a house overlooking the sea and an unlimited supply of notebooks.

Yes to the notebooks! LOLOLOL

I grew up on the east coast, about a mile from the ocean, so I always love to get back there for ocean therapy. It's about 45 minutes from my house now, so not always a practical escape, but I'll settle for the ponds, streams, rivers nearby for oasis-ness.
