haha, I definitely pronounced it Will-a-meta. I grew up in South Florida and you could always tell a tourist by how they pronounced Kissimmee. Emphasis on the s, not the K. Not Kiss-a-me, but ka-Sim-ee.
One thing that interests me about place names in the U.S. is how modern pronunciation differs from or correlates to the source pronunciation. So many place names come from other languages, both European and indigenous, and our pronunciation of them is all over the place.

I live in Gloucestershire. Most UK people don’t bat an eyelid, but anyone else from Anywhere else... 😅
