Hello, Deep Sea Divers!
For some reason, today’s haiku has been echoing in my mind this week. I wrote it on May 20, 2023, and I put. version of it in my zine, A Disciple of the Sea, earlier this summer. But, I felt compelled to illustrate a different version of it for today. The first comic below is the newest one.
sing an ocean hymn
mysterious, dark, and deep
feel primeval pull
To me, the sounds of nature are sacred music. The ocean, in particular, produces sounds that fill me with reverence and awe. This theme of nature making sacred music pops up frequently in my work. Here is an example from back in March:
Today’s haiku prompt is about what sounds are sacred to you.
Haiku Prompt
Write a haiku or series of haiku about a sound or sounds that you find sacred. Feel free to use either a free verse style or the traditional 5-7-5 format.
I encourage you to be bold and leave a haiku in the comments!
Be the poetry you want to see in the world!
Cheers,
Jason

Sunlight dances on
the gurgling of a stream
