I love autumn! And I love your haiku about them - poignant and succinct. I sent you a direct message on your x /twitter account. (I followed you there, too) I wonder if you read your messages. Thank you.
I just saw your DM, you have permission to translate any of my haiku into Tagalog (with credit as you mentioned). I'm honored that my poems inspired you enough to translate them.
It feels like we need to get your visuals be more visible on X/Twitter, too. The links don't show the visuals, only the link. I believe that a big part of your work's magic lies in the visuals. Do I have permission to post your original English as they appear in the newsletter please? I won't post all of your work this way - but just to entice people to check out your other pieces. as well. If, after I post it you have objections, please let me know. Thanks.
“A forest cathedral” so beautiful image! It’s interesting to see how you pour light to a scene that you might have seen a lot (you live in a place where there are seasons). if I wanted to write about the weather or trees in my city, I’d have to pay very very close attention because there’s no seasons here :) but Your forest cathedral poem really makes me want to observe trees more closely no matter if they stay green all year round!
Thank you! It's true I do now live in a place with four distinct seasons. Previously, I've lived a lot of years in places where the change in seasons is just hot season and wet season. It's interesting to notice what does change in nature over the year, wherever you are.
It's interesting to read what others are writing about September and the change of the season. It really doesn't get going until the end of September, but by mid-October, the wind is howling harder and the winter woollies are rising from the bins under the bed. Brrrrr!
today's haiku + images are really gorgeous and capture my current view!
Thanks! I love fall, but I find it strangely bittersweet.
Beautiful, Jason! September (and the start of school) has always felt like the true start of the year.
Thanks!
It is also my favorite time of year, reckoning. Beautiful art.
Thank you. At the start of every season, I always think it is my favorite because I'm ready to move on. But I think fall is my most favorite.
I especially love the second one, as I feel the same about forests being like cathedrals.
Thank you! I feel like as a culture we need to appreciate and seek out more holy places outside.
I am totally with you. And they are so many of these place, if you know what to look (or feel) for.
Lovely poems. Fall is my favorite time of year.
Thank you! Fall gives us so much to rejoice about!
Beautiful!
Thank you!

Thanks! I don't usually check the bird app much anymore. I'll see if I can still get in to find your DM. That's the one thing I wish Substack had.
If you can’t access it, please let me know how I can send you a direct message. Thanks.
Thanks so much. This whole experience is actually lifting my day, if you can believe that.

Absolutely! I would love that!
Perfect, this is my favorite time of year, the transition. The Fall of Summer title was inspiring all by itself.
The fall of summer
Our children go back to school
The same, but different
When my breath is gone is an absolutly beautiful one, cheers! (meant to add to the original comment, too lazy to figure out how to edit)
I love that last line, the same but different. That captures back to school perfectly.
I’m so excited for fall! The first and second made me feel the cool air...
Thanks! It's funny how even in our techno-marvel world how excited we still get about the seasons changing! I love it!
Beautiful!!! Forests are indeed cathedrals!!! I love Fall too!!!
Thank you! We do have some of the best forests here in the PNW, don't we?
We certainly do!!! 💚💚💚💚

“Death’s vivacious imposter” !!
Fall marks my New Year, too. I always thought it was because I couldn't stop buying academic calendars after college. Then I married a teacher. 🙂
Man, the academic schedule really has a stranglehold on the year for students, teachers, and parents.
Fall is the New Year for me, too.
I think we should have some sort of official festival for those of us that count fall as the start of the new year.

We usually have a long, hot September and fall usually starts in early or mid-October. But this year is different for some reason.
Maybe the gods found a bunch of cold weather and rain behind a filing cabinet and sent it to us ... postage due.
